Born Jan. 28, 1909, in Abingdon, he was the son of the late Nora Counts Dixon and Floyd Dixon and was a tool maker for Westinghouse. He was a member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, Bristol, Tenn. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Lillian Frances Edwards Dixon of New London; son, Mr. Arvin Dixon of Raleigh, N.C.; five daughters, Mrs. Lilliam Burson of Salem, Va., Mrs. Helen Roark of Abingdon, Mrs. Sandy Glover of Bailey, N.C., Mrs. Joyce Stiefel of Maryland, and Mrs. Amy Cranfield of New London; four brothers, Mr. Roger Dixon of Smyrna, Ga., Mr. Darius Dixon of Marietta, Ga., Mr. James Dixon of Abingdon and Mr. Bill Dixon of Baltimore; five sisters, Mrs. Irene Cowan of Mendota, Mrs. Jennie Gannaway of Kingsport, Mrs. Frances Farris of Kingsport, Mrs. Emma Ratliff of Abingdon and Mrs. Inez Carrico of Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.
