He was a retired millwright and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Grubbs; and a sister, Annie Collins of Abingdon. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Sizer Grubbs of Danville; four daughters, Jacqueline Poteat of Danville, Elizabeth Nettles Fender of Bessemer, Ala., Marsha G. Pennick of Damascus and Sheila Sickinger of Church Road, Va.; three sons, Rodger Grubbs and David Grubbs, both of Petersburg, Va., and Robert Grubbs of Sutherlin,Va.; one stepdaughter,Frances Gwynn of Danville; one sister,Elsie Haskins of Martinsville,Va.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Swicegood Funeral Home in Danville.
