Hayter ABINGDON -- Mrs. Bessie Mae Kestner Hayter, 93, died Jan. 7, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Hayter was a native of Russell County and had lived in Washington County most of her life. She had worked as a sewing machine operator for Harwood and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, C.W. Hayter of Frederick, Md., and Bobby Hayter of Richmond; three daughters, Mildred Parris of Abingdon, Thelma Johns of Highland Springs and Joyce Hardester of White House, Tenn.; two sisters, Cleo Donald of Bristol Virginia and Virginia Camron of Kingsport; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Farris Funeral Chapel. Rev. Bob McCormick and Rev. Jason Nunley will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Luke Parris, Wayne Parris, Larry Montgomery, Larry Parris, Bobby Cuddy and David Hayter.
