Helbert ABINGDON -- Mrs. Minnie Davenport Helbert, 92, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Martha Davenport. Mrs. Helbert was of the Christian faith and attended Barnes Chapel Church, where she loved to sing and play the piano. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Helbert; two sisters,Virgie White and Carrie Childress; and two brothers, Wyndham and Claude Davenport. Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and James Reynolds of Abingdon; three grandchildren, Tanya Briscoe, Jamie Reynolds and Heather Denton; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Briscoe, Tyler and Blakely Reynolds; several nieices and nephews; and a beloved care giver, Ruth Felty. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Barnes Chapel Church with Rev. Roger Hearl officiating. Burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be James Fields, Mark Pratt, Bob Carter, James Odum, Jay Rogers and Elwood Owens. The family will receive friends at the Campbell Funeral Home from 7-9 Saturday evening.The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and James Reynolds, 9462 Porterfield Highway, Abingdon, Va., where friends may call or stop by at any time.
