Johnston III ABINGDON -- Mr. Clarence Frederick Johnston III, 62, died at his home. Mr. Johnston was a native of Abingdon and the son of Dr. and Mrs. Clarence Frederick Johnston II, who preceded him in death. He was a retired fraud investigator for the Virginia Medicare/Medicaid Agency. Survivors include his former wife, Phyllis C. Johnston of Saltville; one son, Charles Frederick Johnston and wife Brenda B. Johnston of Abingdon; two daughters, Dr. Anne Johnston of Abingdon and April Dawn Tingler and husband Milford Tingler of Nashville; four grandchildren, Corey Frederick Johnston, James Gabriel Johnston, Colton Roy Tingler and Carson Andrew Tingler; and nieces and nephews, Jennifer Neely and husband, Wesley Hayter and wife, and Joey Mitchell. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Rev. John Massey will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-9 p.m., at Farris Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
