Kestner MEADOWVIEW -- Mr. Ernest F. Kestner, 77, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003. He was born Dec. 29,. 1925, and was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. He was an active member of the Trigg Street Church of God, where he faithfully served for 20 years teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and in 1987 retired after 40 years of service with U.S. Gypsum Co. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sadie Taylor Kestner; six sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence Edward (Eddie) Kestner and wife Delores of Meadowview, Donald Fletcher Kestner and wife Reva of Glade Spring, Larry B. Kestner and wife Pina of Glade Spring, Lyle Preston Kestner and wife Jill of Jacksonville, Fla., David Randolph (Randy) Kestner and wife Teresa of Glade Spring and Douglas Wayne Kestner and wife Tammy of Glade Spring; two brothers, Preston Kestner of Bristol Virginia and Silas Kestner of Hayters Gap, Va.; two sisters, Clara Taylor of Saltville and June Casey of Meadowview; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Chant and Rev. Dale Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mike Taylor, Jack Taylor, Gary Kestner, Vaughn Kestner, Lyle Kestner Jr. and Jeff Kestner. Alternate pallbearers will be Hai Tran and Roger Dancy. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the adult Sunday School class of Trigg Street Church of God and a long time friend and co-worker, George Miller.
