Kite MEADOWVIEW -- Joel L. "Jody" Kite, 47, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the residence of his parents. He had spent most of his life in Abingdon. He was employed by King Pharmaceutical where he worked as a chemist. Mr. Kite was a graduate of Virginia Highlands Community College and Emory & Henry College. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his parents, Dusty and June Kite of Abingdon; one son, Zeke Kite of Abingdon; and one stepson, Ian Patterson of Abingdon. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in the Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steven Pollard officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Hutton, Fred James, Edward Jordan Jr., Doug Carey, Duffy Carmack, Bud Widener and David Temgroth. The family will receive friends at the Campbell Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service on Friday. Flowers will be accepted or those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Building Fund of the Abingdon Baptist Church, 361 West Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210.
