She was born in Russell County to the late C.O. and Carrie Johnson Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garnett F. Smith; two brothers, James Price and Kent Price; and two sisters, Lola Ingram and Emma Cullip. She was a member of Byars Cobb United Methodist Church and a former member of Plasterco United Methodist Church. She was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors: five sons and four daughters-in-law, Sylvester Arlen and June Smith, Evans, Ga., Garnett W. and Patsy Smith, Glade Spring, Jack D. Smith, Chesapeake, Va., Thomas A. and Diane Smith, Sarasota, Fla., and Ronald C. and Marion Smith, Jonesboro, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Charles Oakes, San Antonio, Texas, and Nancy and Charles Repass, Glade Spring; one brother, William Price, Saltville; two sisters, Ruth Fields, Richmond, and Opal Chatman, Superior, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren, Gary Oakes, Kathleen Copeland, Deborah Harvey, Tony Smith, Mike Smith, Jeff Smith, Julie Michalenko, Steven Smith, Eric Smith, Ellen Mikulin, Belinda White, Mike Smith and Sherry Murphy; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Ray and Rev. Jim Denton officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 2 p.m. just prior to the funeral service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Naomi Barrett RN; Jennie Bowman, PCA; Virginia Hospice of Rural Retreat; Wendy Boyd, PCA; Patty Hopkins, RN; Dawn and others from Home Nursing Company and also to Dr. Swan for all their love and care.
