Thomas GLADE SPRING -- Roy C. Thomas, 76, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at his residence. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Va., and the son of the late Carson and Myrtle Jones Thomas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Raytheon Company after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Liberty Hall Lodge 104 A.F. & A.M. and was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rhonda Thomas; a brother, Dewey Thomas; and a sister, Olivene Brown. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Doss Thomas; one daughter, Linda C. Wright and her husband Ernest of Damascus; one son, Roy C. Thomas Jr. and his wife Betty of Chilhowie; four grandchildren, Tony Walls, Deena Barron, Kim Thomas and Janet Pennington; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Boyer and Rev. Tommy Tester officiating. A Masonic graveside service will be conducted by the Liberty Hall Lodge 104 A.F. & A.M. at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral service at Garrett Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family via e-mail at condolences@garrettfuneralhome.com.
