WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Gracie Ann Canter Waters, 2 Jul 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Gracie A. Waters Gracie Ann Canter Waters, 90, Guinn Lane, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Waters was a native of Washington County, Va., and a daughter of the late Harvey and Alice Canter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Phillip Waters Sr., in 1992, a daughter, Martha Mae Waters Campbell, in 1976, and by several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Waters had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a member of the Prayer Tabernacle. She was a mother and homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Clipse, of the home; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Phillip and Susie Waters, Eugene and Shirley Waters and Howard and Betty Waters, all of Elizabethton, Mark Waters, of the home, and Claude and Janie Waters, Greeneville; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. WATERS -- Funeral services for Gracie Ann Canter Waters, 90, Guinn Lane, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, were conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, July 4, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters, the Rev. A.G. Wagner and the Rev. Danny Price officiating. Music was provided by Lois Bouton, John Hensley and George Roberson. Graveside services and Interment were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jay Waters, Robert Moffitt, Ben Waters, Edward Waters, Paul Waters, Julius Waters, Michael Price, Michael Waters, Paul Waters III and David Blevins. Honorary pallbearers were all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
