I William Poston being of sound mind & memory thanks be to god for the same do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner & form following to wit, In the first place I will that all my just debts be paid. 2d. I give & bequeath to my wife Sarah Poston one third part of my estate both real & personal during her natural life or widowhood in whatever kind of property she may make choice of - and at the death or marriage of my said wife Sarah Poston, her third part aforesaid descend together with the other parts of my estate equally among my ten children hereafter named - to wit - Rachel Scott, John H. Poston, Judith A. McHenry, Richard Poston, Sarah C. Cecil, Priscilla C. Gannaway, Asenath W. Scott, Catherine D. Bowen, Louisa D. Poston & Matilda G. Pearson to them and their heirs forever - but my will is that if any of my children die without heirs of their body, that the property bequeathed to them, revert to my other children in equal proportions, to them & their heirs forever - my will further is that none of the property herein bequeathed to be at the disposal or under the control of Isaac Gannaway husband to Priscilla C. Gannaway except it be by her free will & consent. Lastly, I nominate my sons in law Peter Scott & Samuel Cecil executors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all former will or wills by me made - In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this seventeenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and twenty one. The last Will & Testament of William Poston decd. was exhibited in court and proven by the oath of Alexander Buchanan & George W. Hayton two of the subscribed witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Peter Scott and Samuel Cecil the executors therein named who took the oath of an executor prescribed by law and entered into and acknowledged their bond with Arthur Bowen & Mitchell Scott their securities in the sum of ten thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs - A Certificate is therefore granted them for the probat of the said Will in due form.
