Blundel to John Blundel 1707 To all christian people to whom these presents shall come Greeting, Know ye that I Thomas Blundel of the parish of Copley in the County of Westmor’ld planter for and in consideration of the natural love and affection I have and bear to my beloved Godson John Blundel son of Thomas and Hester Blundel, I have given, granted, aliened and confirmed and for divers other considerations me thereunto more especially moving as give, grant alien enfeoff and confirm unto my said godson John Blundel and to the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten forever all that peace(sic), parcel or tract of land and premises whereon I now live, situate, lying, and being in the parish and County aforesaid containing by estimation fifty acres be the same more or less being butted and bounded as followeth (Vizt) Beginning at a marked corner red oak which divideth the land of Daniel Hutt dec’d Andrew Reed*, (the following written in margin of page) *dec’d and Samuel Morriss from thence bounding North East on the said Andrew Read extending South East one hundred and twenty poles to a marked white oak corner tree standing on the East side of a swamp and in the line of the said Andrew Reed, (?) (continuing on the main page) from thence extending South West sixty eight poles to a marked red oak standing on the top of a hill & in the line of the land formerly belonging to Thomas Miverly but now in the occupation of John Wright, from thence bounding South West on the said John Wright’s land and extending on the said Wright’s line North West one hundred and twenty poles to a marked poplar corner tree Page 53 (tree) of the said Wrights land formerly Thomas Moverly’s aforesaid from thence extending North East along the line of the said Daniel Hutt’s sixty eight poles to the first beginning corner tree, together with all houses, out houses, orchards, gardens, woods, underwoods, ways, waters, and watercourses, benefits, profits, commodities, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever unto the said piece, parcel or tract of land and premises belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said John Blundel and the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten forever. To Have and to hold the said fifty acres of land and premises herein and hereby mentioned to to be given with all and singular, the houses, out houses, orchards, gardens, woods, underwoods, ways, water and water courses, benefits, profits, commodities hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever unto the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him my said Godson John Blundel and the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten forevermore to be held of the chief lord of the fee (or fees of- striked through) by the rents and services for the same due and accustomed to be paid and the said Thomas Blundel for himself and his heirs doth by these presents covenant agree and provide that in case the said John Blundel should die without such lawful issue of his body as is aforesaid that then the said land hereby mentioned to be given shall return and come unto my son Thomas Blundel, father of the said John Blundel and his heirs and assigns forever, in as large and ample manner, as is above given to my said Godson John Blundel and the Thomas Blundel doth hereby for himself and his heirs further covenant grant and agree that the said land hereby mentioned to be given and granted to the said John Blundell shall remain and be free and clear unto him the said John Blundel and the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten from the claim or claims of him the said Thomas Blundell and his heirs and assigns forever without any the less trouble or disturbance of him or them or of any other person or persons whatsoever by his or their consent, means or procurement. At a court held for the said County on the 26th day November 1707 Thomas Blundel the within subscriber personally acknowledged the within Instrument or deed of gift of land from him to John Blundel to be his proper act and deed and the land and premises thereby mentioned to be conveyed to the within named John Blundell to be the just right and Inheritance of him the said John Blundell and his heirs according to the force form and effect of the said deed of grift(sic). Test Ja: Westcomb Cler Com Pr’d Record atz 28 November 1707 Pr Eundm Clerum Additional Comments: John Blundell was actually grandson of Thomas Blundell (the first), father of Thomas Blundell (the second) whose wife was Hester Wright, and probably/possibly second son of Thomas and Hester, their first son Thomas (the third) inheriting by right of primogeniture.
