She was a native of Thorn Hill, Va., and the daughter of the late John W. and Kitty Peters Bowers. She was a homemaker and a member of the East End Christian Church where she was a teacher and was involved in the ladies work. She was the widow of Howard W. Felty Sr. She is survived by three daughters: Jackie Von Schlegel of Washington, D.C.; Alice Marie Felty Meyers of Abingdon; and Johnnie Blackwell of Bluff City; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003, in the East End Christian Church with Dr. Ross Dampier officiating. The burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Howard Meyers, David Craft, John Trent Jr., Harold Leonard, Joey Morton and John Owen. Honorary pallbearers will be members of East End Christian Church and Benjamin "Sparky" Blackwell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Weaver Funeral Home.
