One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty-Six between Wilson C. DURFEY and Sarah Jane his wife of the one part and Matilda DURFEY and Harriett A. DURFEY of the other part all of the City of Williamsburg, Witnesseth: That the said Wilson C. DURFEY and Sarah Jane his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Thirteen Hundred and fifty Dollars to them in hand paid or secured to be paid, by the said Matilda DURFEY and Harriett A. DURFEY at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged): have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Matilda DURFEY and Harriett A. DURFEY their heirs and assigns All that lot of land with the buildings thereon in the City of Williamsburg being one of the lots which was added to the (to the - repeated) said city by an act of the Last General Assembly of Virginia and bounded as follows. On the south by the lot of Samuel W. Bowman and extending on the South Line one hundred and Eighteen feet Commencing at the south east corner of the lot hereby conveyed on the street leading by the College gate. On the west by the lot of said Bowman and running on that line one hundred and forty two feet and thence East one hundred and twenty five feet to the street above mentioned. Thence South along the said Street one hundred and forty six feet to the beginning and being The house now occupied by said Wilson C. DURFEY together with all and singular the rights privileges and appurtenances unto the said lot belonging in any way appertaining: To Have and To Hold the before granted premises with the appurtenances unto them The said Matilda DURFEY and Harriet A. DURFEY their heirs and assigns forever for the only proper use and behoof of them the said Matilda DURFEY and Harriet A. DURFEY their heirs and assigns. And the said Wilson C. DURFEY and Sarah Jane his wife their heirs executor and administrator doth covenant to and with the said Matilda DURFEY and Harriet A. DURFEY their heirs and assigns that they the said Wilson C. DURFEY and Sarah Jane his wife will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed_ Witness the following Signatures and Seals W. C. DURFEY Seal Sarah J. POWELL justices of the peace of the city aforesaid in the State of Virginia do certify that Sarah Jane DURFEY the wife of Wilson C. DURFEY whose names are signed to the wirting hereto annexed bearing date on the 30th day of April A. D. 1856 personally appeared before us in our city aforesaid and being examined privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her She the said Sarah Jane acknowledged the said writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.
