A native of Wise County, she relocated to Michigan after her marriage, moved to Lake County, Fla., in 1985. She was the widow of Elmer G. (Duke) Barron. She was a homemaker and mother until after Duke's death, then worked as a switchboard operator for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Michigan until her retirement. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by parents, James and Victoria Collins; and brothers, Robert, Charles Hubert and Bill Collins. Surviving: daughter, Linda Hanson, Leesburg, Fla.; grandsons, Patrick Hanson, West Bend, Wis., and Alexander Hanson, South Milwaukee, Wis.; great-grandsons, Skylar and Nick Blake; sisters, Georgia Goodale, Rosemay Winters and Ann Smith; brothers, James Collins and Tom Collins; sisters-in-law, Lydia Collins and Barbara Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews. A committal service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with interment to follow. The family will receive friends on Friday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of Lake & Sumter, Inc., 12300 Lane Park Road, Taveres, FL 32778 or the American Cancer Society.
