Fannon Jr. EXETER, Va. -- Harry "Preacher" Jacob Fannon Jr., 80, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, at his home. He was a former resident of Stonega, Va., and had lived the last four years in Exeter. He was a member of U.M.W.A. Local 1055 and had worked for Westmoreland Coal Co. for 42 years. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Santa Fe. He was a member of the Stonega Calvary Baptist Church and also attended the Appalachia Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Rev. Harry Fannon Sr.; two brothers, Walker Fannon, and an infant brother; and his first wife, Eula Fannon. Survivors: wife, Lillie Fannon, Exeter; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Fannon, Duffield, Va., Nancy and Danny Fox, Big Stone Gap and Michelle and Charlie McCracken, Appalachia; son, Jeff Fannon, Gray, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Michael Fox, Kingsport, Matthew Fox, Castlewood, Juli Fannon, Raleigh, N.C., Jacoby Fannon, Gray, Jerrica Fannon, Sanford, N.C., and Amanda Hartsock and Connor McCracken, both of Appalachia; two great-grandchildren, Jarrett Fox, Kingsport and Brooke Fox, Castlewood; and three sisters, Lois Jean Richardson, Bloomingdale, Tenn., Mary Bell, Church Hill, Tenn., and Juanita Woods, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at the Appalachia Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Roy Smith and Rev. Rick Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Military graveside services will be held at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
