Jenkins COEBURN - Homer J. Jenkins, 69, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at his home. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army, and of the Baptist faith. Homer was an avid sports fan working with the Coeburn Little League, softball league, Job Corps, high school football and known for his own softball team, the J & S Team. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Randy Mark and Carrie Jenkins of Portsmouth, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Rodney Maine of Coeburn; a granddaughter, Crystal Farmer of Coeburn, and a great- granddaughter, Cassidy Brooke Farmer of Coeburn. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Coeburn, with the Rev. Roy Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, with military graveside rites conducted by the Norton VFW Post 4301. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sturgill Funeral Home, Coeburn. Sturgill Funeral Homes, Coeburn, is in charge of arrangements.
