Kennedy WISE -- Phyllis Blankenship Kennedy passed away Monday, March 24, 2003, at her home. She was a member of the Wise Baptist Church. She was a former employee with Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital as a medical secretary for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Flora Blankenship; and one brother, Jerry Blankenship, all of Cleveland, Va. Surviving are her husband, Harold Kennedy of Wise; two sons, David Kennedy of Wise and Jason Todd Kennedy of Charlottesville, Va.; one grandson, Samuel Kennedy of Wise; two sisters, Sally Sutherland and her husband Robert of Lebanon and Lois Blankenship of Knoxville; two brothers, Jack Blankenship and wife Jean of Cleveland and Gaines Blankenship and wife Shirley of Port Ritchie, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, with Pastor Ray Jones Jr. officiating. Graveside committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund of Wise Baptist Church, P.O. Box 777, Wise, VA 24293. Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge of arrangements.
