Toots was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a founding member of the Old Dominion Sportsman Association. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glessie Blanton Mullins; two daughters, Billie Wright and Donna Mullins; three brothers; and five sisters. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Mullins of Norton; four daughters, Sue Minor of Wise, Jackie Cooke of Norton, Peggy Wampler of Big Stone Gap and Reedy Estep of Gate City; three sons, Ronal Mullins of Spartanburg , S.C., Mark Mullins of Norton and Tommy Mullins of Wise; sister, Lillian Boles of Norton; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, stepchildren, relatives, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Allen Culbertson officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in White Oak Gap Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Norton VFW Post 4301.
