Roberts WISE -- Blanche Williams Roberts, 95, passed away at her home Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. She was the widow of Lloyd Roberts, a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother. She attended the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Tommy Mangum; and one great-grandson, Seth Moore. Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Mary Ann and Thurston Rose of Wise, Bobbie and Doug Horne, and Jean Moore, and one son and spouse, Bill and Betty Roberts, all of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Kim Roberts, Barry Allison and wife Beth, Douglas Mangum, Michael Moore, Todd Moore and wife, Bencita; and two great-grandchiidren, Sara Moore and Brody Allison. The family would like to give special thanks to her care givers, Nellie Bateman, Shirley Newberry, Pauline Roberts, Bea Stanley, Shelley Hamilton and Pat Austin. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, with Rev. Tommy McAmis officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Wise Cemetery, Wise. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. until time of services at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sturgill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2444, Wise, VA 24293. Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge of arrangements.
