He was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School, attended Mountain Empire Community College, was a federal mine inspector and owner of Roberts Fishing, Tackle and Guide Services. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He attended Zion Family Ministries. He was preceded in death by his father, Otis J. Roberts. Surviving are his wife, Deborah B. Roberts; two daughters, Leslie Roberts Mutter and husband, Brock Allen Mutter of Galax and Jennifer Lynn Roberts of Atlanta; one grandson, Gabriel Braxton Mutter; his mother, Irene Wells Roberts of Norton; three brothers, Edsel Roberts, Zachary Roberts and Eddie Wayne Roberts, all of Norton; and three sisters, Louise Sanders and Joan Mullins of Wise and Kim Roberson of Norton. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Family Ministries with Pastor Wayne Hager and Pastor Tim Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the Addington-Hensley Cemetery, Wise, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 4301, Norton. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Friday at Zion Family Ministries. Mr. Roberts will be taken to Zion Family Ministries for visitation and funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Family Ministries, P.O. Box 1528, Wise, VA 24293.
