WISE COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Ernest Robinette, 13 Feb 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Ernest Robinette, 78, Wilson Road, Erwin, died Friday, February 13, 2004 in the Center on Aging & Health. Mr. Robinette was a native of Wise County, Va., having lived in Adrian, Mich., before moving to Unicoi County 20 years ago. He was a son of the late Dewey and Minnie Derafield Robinette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wolfe Robinette, in 1988, and a son-in-law, Joe Robison. Mr. Robinette was a World War II Army veteran, having received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He retired in 1975 from American Chain & Cable after 30 years of service. He attended Unicoi Church of God. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger and Joni Robinette, Harrisburg, Pa., Rusty and Judy Robinette, Morenci, Mich., and Richard Robinette, Adrian, Mich.; four daughters and three sons-in- law, Mary Jane and Gary Tipton, Erwin, Mildred and Richard Spencley, Ernestine and Clyde Snyder and Robin Robison, all of Adrian, Mich.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Shirleen Robinette Jr. and Leonard and Mary Robinette, all of Unicoi; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Ethel Byrd, Irene Tolley, Mildred Morton and Emma Jean and Edison Wallin, all of Unicoi; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, February 15, from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ronnie Holloway officiating. Music will be provided by LuAnne Powers and Inez Chandler. Graveside service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 16, at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Full military grave rites will be rendered by the Kingsport V.F.W. Post No. 3382. Family members will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 7:30 p.m. Sunday and at the cemetery by 9:30 a.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Gary (Mary Jane) Tipton, 1439 Love Station Road, Erwin.
