Mrs. Sowards was a member of Lonepine Chapel. Elsie was a mother and friend to all that knew her. To know her was to love her. Elsie loved to cook and be with her friends. Mrs. Sowards was preceded in death by her husband, Bathus Lee Sowards; two daughters, Maybelle Triplett and Delorce Sowards; a son, Glen Roger Sowards; and one sister, Faye Orick. Surviving are daughters, Loretta Hodges, Pound, Janie Hayborn, Winter Haven, Fla., and Judy Mullins, Pound; sons, J.D. Sowards, Pound and David Sowards, Pound; brothers, Dennis Maggard, Raymond, Wash. Clyde Maggard, Zeni, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Pound, with Rev. Danny Mullins officiating. Interment will be in Lee Sowards Family Cemetery, Pound. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Calling hours are 4-9 p.m. Sunday in Baker Funeral Home, Pound. Baker Funeral Home, Pound, is entrusted with the care of Elsie Maggard Sowards.
