Stepp Jr. BIG STONE GAP, Va. -- Meredith A. Stepp, Jr., 70, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 at his home. He attended Trinity Life Center, Coeburn, Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retiree of the Westmoreland Coal Co., and a member of the U.M.W.A. District No. 28, Local No. 1607. He was preceded in death by his parents, Meredith A. Stepp, Sr. and Mary Lee (Raymer) Stepp; five brothers, Dr. James Stepp, Elmo Stepp, Major Robert Stepp, Frank Stepp and Billy Stepp. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Dorton Stepp; son, Michael Stepp and wife, Kathy, of Johnson City; two daughters, Teresa Mason and husband, Michael and Cindy Fraley and husband, Chris, all of Big Stone Gap, Va.; one brother, Ralph Stepp of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Martha McCarroll and Nancy Riddle of Big Stone Gap, and Julia Lifford of Appalachia, Va.; grandchildren, Brooke and Rachel Mason; Megan and Christopher Fraley and Jonathan and Madison Stepp mother-in-law, Lillie Dorton, Big Stone Gap, Va., and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. John McCarroll officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Holding Funeral Home is in charge.
