Sturgill WISE - Gary L. Sturgill passed away Friday morning at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tenn. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Carty Funeral Home, Norton-Wise. Bristol Herald Courier Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 Gary Lee Sturgill WISE - Gary Lee Sturgill, age 63, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 21, 2003, at the Mountain Home Veterans Administration Hospital, Mountain Home, Tenn. He was born in Wise County, Va., and was a life-long resident. He had worked as the manager of Glen's Finer Homes, Coeburn. Mr. Sturgill was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He attended Zion Family Ministeries, Wise. He was a son of the late Leonard and Vonda Collins Sturgill and was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Lee Sturgill, and two brothers, Carrol Sturgill and Johnny Sturgill. Survivors include his wife, Janet Mullins Sturgill, Wise; a daughter, Charlene Oncale, Birmingham, Ala.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Denise Sturgill, Big Stone Gap, Mickey and Heather Sturgill, Wise, Aaron and Lindsey Sturgill, Norton, and Shayne and Jennifer Sturgill of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Alexis and Cassidy; two step-grandchildren, Haley and Deven; six sisters, Leona Short, Delores Mullins, Mary Lou Rogers, Frances Addington, Charlotte Roberts, all of Wise, and Patricia Webb of Pound, Va; his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Goldie Mullins, Pound; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Calling hours are from 6-9 p.m. Saturday Nov. 22, 2003, at Zion Family Ministeries, Wise. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 23, 2003, at Zion Family Ministeries, with Pastors Wayne Hager and Tim Hager officiating. Interment will follow at the Boggs Cemetery, Pound, with military rites given by the Pound VFW Post #9600 and the Jenkins, Ky., American Legion Post #66. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Carty Funeral Home, Norton-Wise, is caring for funeral arrangements.
