Willis NORTON -- Alvin Woodrow "Woody" Willis, 74, went to be with the Lord, Dec. 6, 2002, from Churchhill Nursing Home, Church Hill, Tenn. He was a lifelong member of East Park Avenue Baptist Church in Norton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean conflict. Woody was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 50 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired from Old Dominion Power Co. He was preceded in death by his sons "Rod" Willis and Donnie Willis; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Anne Stallard Willis of Norton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bo and Anita Willis and David and Cindy Willis, all of Norton; grandchildren Brandy Willis-Lawson, Melissa Willis-Pannell, Leslie Jade Willis, James "Jim Bob" Willis and Alexander Stuart Willis; brother, G.K. "Kelly" Willis of Norton; mother-in-law, Evelyn Stewart Stallard of Norton; brothers-in-law, Frank Stallard of Abingdon and H.R. "Hugh" Stallard of Richmond; sister-in-law, Tracy Stallard of Norton; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Graveside committal services will be conducted at1 p.m. Monday in Powell Valley Memoral Gardens, where military graveside rites will be conducted by NortonVFW Post 4301 and Wise DAV Chapter 56.
