Deed - Nye to McMillien 1833 (mentions Davis, others & Reed Ck.) This Indenture made 12th day of March, in the year of our Lord 1833, between John R. NYE & Sarah M. Nye of the county of Smyth on the one part and Elijah McMILLEN of the county of Wythe & state of Virginia on the other part. Witnesseth that the said John R. Nye & Sarah M. NYE, his wife, for and in consideration of Six Hundred dollars to them in hand paid, receipt of is hereby acknowledged, by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto said Elijah McMILLIEN, all their right, title and claim to the following bounded land, lying and being in the county aforesaid; On the waters of Reed creek & adjoining the lands of Jacob HARRELL, Hy HUFFARD, A. DAVIS & of MATHEWS & HULLER. Beginning on a large double Chestnut on a ridge, and a corner to Jacob DAVIS thence N.13 E. 64 poles to 2 Red Oaks, thence N. 85 E.57 poles to a Dogwood and White Oak, HAROLDS corner thence with his line, 53 poles to 2 stumps, [ description continues] ....draft above HUFFARDS house and a corner to his land......red Oak near the pond....thence with a line to A. DAVIS 29 1/2 W. 12 poles crossing the pond to a parcel of Red Oak grubs near a large rock....to a branch called TONCRAYS(?) ...in a draft near a deep gully with a line of Larkin JOHNSON.....south 15 1/2 E. 21 poles...on a ridge and corner to George SIMMERMAN, thence with a line of survey made in the name of MADISON & Co. S. 66W.604 poles to a large rock between 3 White Oaks all marked, ...to a pine on top of a ridge thence N 7W 16 poles to FANNINGS path, thence..on a line of 1569 acre survey made for NYE & HASTERLING, thence N. 39E.14 poles...to a stump near the end of the lane between HOLLAR & DAVIS thence to the beginning. The above described boundary contains 600 acres more or less...to have and hold the said tract of land with all it's appurtenances, unto said Elijah McMILLEN and his heirs against the claim or claims of all and every person by them, said John & Sarah NYE.
