Johnston Bonnie Lowe Johnston, 93, a resident of Lakebridge Nursing Home and a former resident of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord August 12, 2003 at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Johnston was born January 18, 1910 in Washington County, Va. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Glenna Carmack Lowe and the widow of Emory Johnston. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and Albert. Mrs. Johnston was a member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church and had worked as a private nurse. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Edie and Jack Street; three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Jacqui and Mark Steadman, Pam Hawkins and Penny Street; three great-grandchildren, Colby Hawkins, John Steadman and Samantha Steadman; four sisters, Thelma Carswell, Dixie Johnson, Josephine Wright and Kate Latham; and a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Nellie Lowe. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnston will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 14, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Hudson and the Rev. Gary Thacker officiating, with special music by Janet Grant, Kristin Geros and Sam and Ginger Dalton. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, in the Mountain View Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jim Carswell, Kenneth Wright, Bob Johnson, Don Lowe, Jack Latham and Bill Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
