There was no date or newpaper heading, but from the back of the clipping and what we know of the family, it appears to be from December 1934: Mrs. Susan Hoilman, widow of the late George W. Hoilman, died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Smythers in West Wytheville, after a brief illness, at the age of eighty-six years. She is survived by the following children: Walter M. Hoilman, Wytheville; Mr. Frank C. Hoilman, Atlanta, Georgia; Mr. William A. Hoilman, Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. Charles Smythers, Wytheville; Mrs. C.J. Gearing; Mrs. D.D. Tynes; Mrs. M.C. Douthat of Bluefield, West Virginia. The funeral was held this afternoon from the Main Street Christian Church, of which she had been an active member for many years, conducted by Rev. C.B. Livesay, the pastor, assisted by Rev. A.V. Rudy, of the Methodist Church and Rev. S.S. Boyer, of Fries, a nephew. The interment followed in the East End cemetary in the family square. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Richard Spence and Lewis Rutherford, Wytheville; Basil Atkins, Princeton West Virginia; Glenn Kennedy, Robert Douthat, William Gearing, David Tynes, Bluefield, West Virginia; Howard Collins, Radford, Virginia, grandsons. The honorary pallbearers were: Messrs. W.B. Kegley, J.R. Baldock, Stuart Moore, L.G. Poole, H.M. Heuser, H.K. Bowen, S.S. Stephens, C.G. Kegley, J.M. Blessing, G.T. Foltz, T.P. Wappett, John A. Cook, W.I. Smythers, Charles Fulks, R.P. Johnson and Dr. E.M. Chitwood. The flower bearers were: Mesdames J.D. Probst, S.S. Stephens, H.F. Matney, W.T. Poole, J.M. Blessing, Charles Fulks, C.B. Livesay, Stuart Moore, T.P. Wappett, E.F. Taylor and William A. Shrader.
