Daniel Sheffey, esq. a gentlemean distinguished for his talents and legal acquirements. He was formerly a member of congress from Virginia, and his celebrated reply to Mr. Randolph, who reproached him with his origin and former pursuits, (he having once worked at the trade of shoe-making in this city) was one of the most eloquent vindications of God Almighty’s noblemen we ever read, and made the “Orator of Roanoke” ashamed of his nobility. Note from File Manager: Biography at congress.gov http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=S000317 mentions Wytheville, Abbeville, and Staunton and Augusta County as major places in his life.
