In the name of God amen. The ninth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand ninety two. I, Adam Bough of the County of Wythe and the State of Virginia, being very infirm in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God therefore: and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, that is to say princeably and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave his anoiny body to the dust, to be buried in decent christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurection, I shall receive the same again from God who gave it to me and at touching such wordly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give devise and dispose it in the following manner and from Imprimis. It is my will and I do order that in first place: all my Just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied. Item: I give and bequeath to my sons GEORGE and HENRY BOUGH all that tract or parcel of land where on I now live, to have and to hold the said land to the only proper use and beehoof of the said GEORGE and HENRY BOUGH their heirs or assigns and it is my will and order that the said GEORGE and HENRY shall while they live on the land that they Farm the said land as usually they have done and when the crop is en... to divide it in the field or barn as they shall think fit themselves and to have equal parts of measure orchard, Barn and other conviences belonging to the plantation only that each man shall have his own house, as at the present. And if either the said GEORGE or HENRY BOUGH should, at some future day, choose to sell his part of the land, he shall not have a right to sell the same to any other person other than the other Brother who lives on the land with him if such Brother shall choose to purchase, but if he will not incline to purchase, the one choosing to sell shall be at Liberty to sell as he can and to convey the same in fee simple to the purchaser, who shall be entitled to one half of the said land and to be divided by quanitity and quality and if both my sons afore said shall choose to sell at once, they shall then jointly convey the land and divide the price in two equal moneys between them. And it is my further will and order that they said GEORGE and HENRY BOUGH shall keep all my stock of horses, cattle, sheep, and hogs on the plantation for the use of the said GEORGE and HENRY and to be disposed of or used as the said GEORGE and HENRY shall think proper and I do also give and bequeath to the said GEORGE and HENRY, my waggon and gear and and singular my household and kitchen furniture of every kind whatsoever together with my blacksmith tools and farming utensils, axes, grubbing hoes. And I do also give to my sons GEORGE and HENRY BOUGH whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my only and sole Executors of this my last will and Testament and all my Books and Book debts now belonging to me or which shall belong to me at my death. It is my will and order that my Executors do pay to GEORGE, the oldest son of ADAM BOUGH, deceased, the sum of Ten pounds in trade of any kind that may suit the circumstances of my Executors, at any time within two years after my decease. If the same shall be lawfully demanded by the said GEORGE BOUGH and of not ten at any time, when the said GEORGE shall call for it; but shall not recover the same with interest by reason of delay that may be occaisoned by the said GEORGE BOUGH and if the said GEORGE BOUGH shall not demand the same within twenty years after my decease, that then my Executors shall not be subject to the pay and thereof at any time after until they shall choose to do. And it is my will and order that my executors pay to my daughter, CATHERINE STIFFY, the sum of twenty pounds at any time within four years after my Death to be paid in horses, sheep, hogs or in any other species of Property that may suit my Executors or that they may choose to give. And also pay the sum of one dollar to each of the heirs of my daughter, BARBARA HOSIER, on demand after my decease. And it is my will and order that my Executors pay to each of my Sons, LEONARD, MICHAEL, and JACOB, the sum of twenty pounds each, that is to say twenty pounds to LEONARD BOUGH at any time within eight years after my decease and the like payment of twenty pounds to MICHAEL BOUGH at any time within ten years after my decease and the same to JACOB BOUGH, at any time within twelve years after my decease. And it is my will and order my executors pay to each of my Daughters, ELIZABETH and MARY, the sum of twenty pounds each at the time following, that is to say, twenty pounds to be paid to the said ELIZABETH at any time within fourteen years after my decease and the like payment of twenty pounds to MARY at any time within sixteen years after my decease. All and every of the afore mentioned payments to be paid in horses, cattle, sheep, or hogs, or any other kind of trade at its same value that my Executors may choose to give and where it shall appear by obligation or book account that any of my heirs aforesaid is indebted to me or to me or to my estate, that then my executors is hereby fully authorized to call upon such of my heirs and settle with them, and such heirs shall give my executors credit for whatever may appear to be due, which shall be considered, for so much being paid of the twenty pounds aforesaid; but my executors shall not be at Liberty to make any of my Heirs pay any Interest or any sum that may appear to be due to my estate from any of my Heirs. And it is my will and order that if any of my Heirs shall by any ways or means whatsoever attempt to make my executors pay money instead of trade aforesaid, that then my Executors shall pay the sum of twenty-five shillings in cash and shall be discharged from the payment of the aforementioned twenty pounds to any heir who shall so attempt to demand or ask for money instead of trade. And I do hereby attest, disallow, breake, and disannul all and every other former Testament, wills, legacies and Executors by me in any way before this time made; will, bequeath, testifying, and confirming this and no other, to be my last will and Testament.
