Will of Fugate Clarke, 1821 - Wythe Co. VA Book 3 ,page 194-Wythe Co Va-Proved May 9 1826 I Fugate Clarke of the county of Wythe do make, ordanain and constitute this my last will in the following manner to wit: Item I first do give to my wife Elizabeth one third of all my estate, past and present after all my just debts are paid and wish her to keep my negro woman S--? and boy Will during her natural lifetime. Item second I give and bequeath to my daughter Polly one negro girl named Dene which she is to account for the value to the other children. Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my son Joseph one of the horses best he he thinking proper take. One at his own price. I furthur give to my sons Joseph and Reuben the new ground and a piece known by the name of wheat field. One year next--? I wish all the remaing of my land and a negro girl named Jane hired unto my daughtyer Rachael of age or gets married on the amount of rent there is after a reasonable allowance made for raising my ? youngest children, the later to be equally divided amoung the eight and the land divided also. And as there has been some money advanced to me by my children I wish this refunded to them with lawful interest and I wish Joseph and Reuben to be paid for the clearing of the new ground. I wish the remainder of my property 50 col and after all just debts and collecting all money due me I wish the remainder equally divided amoung my eight childern. The remainder of the property I gave to my wife at her death be equally divided and anything else that belongs to me that have been ommitted in my last will and testament. I keep one acre of ground which I wish not rented or sold where the "grave yard" is--? The above acre of ground is in the old meeting house field on the top of the hill. I do furnish ordane and constitute and appoint my wife Elizabeth F Randolph executor of my last will and testament. My hand 27 February 1821.
