Peter Creager (his mark) Test: 3 names written in German (see below) At a Court held for the County of Wythe, the 9th day of June 1801. This last will and testament of Peter Creger dec'd exhibited in Court and part proven by the oath of Philip Dutton, a witness thereto & Court for further proof----- and at another Court held for the County aforesaid, the 8th day of September 1801. This said last will and testament of Peter Creger dec'd fully proven in Court by the oath of Thomas Copenhafer is another witness thereto & ordered to be recorded. Teste: Robert Crockett, CC (Notes: The name Creger is spelled 4 different ways in this will. This probably accounts for the current spellings of the name Creger in Wythe Co-Creager, Crigger, Creger, Cregar;etc. Also, I think some people used spelling to differentiate between the different Krieger families as there was another Michael Krieger in Wythe Co at the same time. Derting is the original for Dutton. Koppenhoefer is the original for Copenhaver. JD)
