This single gravesite is located adjacent to the tee box on the 9th hole of the
golf course on Cheatham Naval Annex to Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA.
The grave is on a point of land, about 25 feet above sea level, surround by a brick
wall about 4 feet high. There is no gate or opening in the wall for access. The wall
encompasses an area approximately 33 feet by 42 feet and would seem to indicate a family
cemetery. No other graves are apparent in the brick wall enclosure. The gravesite is
maintained by the US Navy. I have arbitrarily assigned the name of Burwell Family Cemetery
as this is the only identifiable grave.

NOTES: The first name could be Lames, but it is definitely not James.
Regarding the date of death, there is an unusual inscription immediately
following "October". It appears to be a "v" with a "c" or possibly an "e"
on top of the "v'". The same unusual inscription appears immediately before
the "29th year of his age".
