This is what it said on my 4th great grandfather's War of 1812 pension
papers: Private in Capt. Simeon WRIGHT'S Company, 1 Reg't Martindale's
Vermont Detached Militia, War of 1812. He appears on the Company Muster
Roll for Sept. 17 to Dec. 8, 1812. 
Date of Appointment or Enlistment: Sept. 23, 1812
He was on the Company Pay Roll for Sept. 17 to Dec. 8, 1812 Roll dated
Dec. 8, 1812. Commencement of pay, Sept 23, 1812; Ending of pay, Oct.
14, 1812. Allowance for travel, 30 miles, 2 days. Term charged, 24
days. Pay per month: $6.66. (then there's a note stating pay of
$5.13.)
