He was Ensign of the 2nd Regiment of Militia, 2nd Company in Bennington, VT, on May 28, 1778. Additional Comments:     "Father's (Ezra Holmes, Sr.) cousin, Rev. Libeus Armstrong, a brother to that cousin that was at our house last fall, is visiting at our home.  He came here Sat eve on his return from an assn of Congregational Ministers held in Madison County.  He gave a lecture last night at the church on Capital Punishment.  He has been a very smart man and still remarklably so for a man of his age."   Ezra Holmes lived in Danube, Herkimer County, New York.
