This indenture made the 11th day of February 1799 between Gideon OLIN, Amos HUNTINGTON SR., and Mr. Simon BOTTUM all of Shaftsbury in the county of Bennington and State of Vermont who are a committee chosen and appointed by the town of Shaftsbury to lease(?) or dispose of the publick lands belonging to said Town of the one part and Ebenezer HARRIS and Parley HOWLETT of said Shaftsbury on the other part witnesseth that the sid Gideon OLIN, Amos HUNTINGTON and Simon BOTTUM for and in consideration of the Rents and Reservations here after mentioned have demised it and to farm let unto the said Ebenezer HARRIS and Parley HOWLETT and to their heirs and assigns the following tracts or parcels of land lying in the aforesaid Town of Shaftsbury, being the whole of the undivided land belonging to the School Rights and the undivided land belonging to the Right formerly called the Minister Right--to have and to hold the aforementioned land and premise with all and singular the profits and advantages ariving from the improvement of the same for and during the full term of woods growing and waters runing from the Date of these presents unto the said Ebenezer HARRIS and Parley HOWLETT their heirs executors administrators or assigns he or they yielding and paying for the same annually unto the said Gideon OLIN, Amos HUNTINGTON and Simon BOTTUM committee or to their succesors in Office the Rent One Dollar and Fifty Cents in Silver or Gold at the time of payment on the Twenty Seventh day of May annually during the whole term as aforesaid other wise if the said Ebenezer HARRIS and Parley HOWLETT their heirs shall pay to the said committee or their successors in Office the full sum of Twenty five Dollars in Silver or Gold together with the interest in arears if any their at the time of such payment it shall be received in full consideration for the aforesaid year by Rents and the said Gideon OLIN, Amos HUNTINGTON and Simon BOTTUM for themselves and for their successors in Office do further covenant and grant that the said Ebenezer H RRIS and Parley HOWLETT their heirs executors and administrators upon the afroesaid terms and conditions shall and may peaceably and quietly have hold possess and enjoy the premises forever hereafter without any hindrance or molestation from by or under us or our successors in Office in witness where of we have hereunto set our hands and affiset our seals the day month and year above written.
