S.Vincent aged 48 years died of Paralysis. H.S. Vincent was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt. (Vermont) August 31st 1826. At age 19 he moved to New Hampshire where he engaged in mechanical pursuits, until the age of 24 , when he was married to Miss. Alice Webster, and engaged in hotel keeping in the city of Manchester. A short but happy period of married life and his companion was called up higher, leaving his only son, than an infant. After meeting the conflicts of life alone for several years. he sought the companionship of Lucy M. Webster, a younger sister of his former wife, to whom he was married in February 1861 and together the past fourteen years have journeyed the ragged path of life: smoothing and cheering the way for each other, while each year's experience more strongly cemented their union. In 1866 he came to the West and located at LaCrosse, Wisconsin at which place as elsewhere, he advanced a thorough adaptation to business, and that affable manner that gave him a place in the confidence and esteem of people. He removed to this place (Tomah, WI) in 1869 and became a partner in the Planing Mill and Stove (could be stave) Factory, where his skill has been productive of a flourishing business: supplying many with employment and giving the community the benefit of a well conducted mill. His fidelity of the interests of his patrons, his generosity in seeking the needs and alleviating the wants in the suffering, his unselfishness in reference to all public enterprises, were virtues which few possess more than he. Having frank, noble motives, he held the confidence of the whole people. His nature was social: he was not born for business alone: he loved his home and the society of his numerous friends. His last plans were, to add to the beauty and comforts of his home. He leaves a wife and only son to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and faithful father, and the village of valued citizens.
