S. N. Brown Biography

S.N. BROWN Was born May 18th, 1811, at Chalchester
Point, Chittenden county, Vermont. His father, Jesse
Brown, came to Craw­ford county in 1816, and located a
couple of years on French Creek Flats, and then came to
Rockdale and took up a two hun­dred acre tract. There
the Village of Brown Hill now is, and which derived its
name from the pioneer. On the original place he lived
to the old age of ninety-four years. The son has always
lived at the place of his birth upon the farm which
comprises now seventy-five acres of the original tract.
He was married August, 1834, to Miss Hannah Bidwell,
daughter of Russel Bidwell, of Bloomfield town­ship.
