Eleazer Hutchins, Surgeon, served on Col. George Tyler's Staff Third Regiment of Vermont Militia from the 5th to the 17th of October 1814. 13 days. "We were all members of the company of volunteers for the defense of said Plattsburg from said Jerico (sic) commanded by Capt. Myron Reed and by Lieut. Peter L. Allen in the Regiment of Vermont militia commanded by the said Colonel Tyler" direct quote as testified in the Pension Papers of Betsy Hutchins. The testators were Luther Prouty (served as a Sergeant), John Benham and Harvey Field (both were Privates). Additional Comments: Ida Ransom, , is a descendant.
