Written: 1812 Sorry, deed verbatim is not available. Additional Comments: A couple of years ater, ata twn meeting, Guildhall own voted to encourage the trustees of the estate of William Johnson to sue William Powers regarding "the Johnson farm". The next year the town voted to take over that lawsuit and prosecute it against William Powers. It appears that the lawsuit dragged on for years and years. It appears that William Powers won the lawsuit against him because he kept the land he had bought from Johnson at Guilhall, Vt. William Powers left Guildhall for Pomfret, Windsor Co., VT, next-door to his old home at Hartford in about 1815 or 1816, well before the lawsuit was decided. While at Pomfret, he as good as traded his Guildhall land for a new parcel of land at Orange, Orange Co., VT, and 3 weeks after that trade, he used the Orange, Vt. land to guarantee the debs of a Benjamin Powers, probably his son.
