Arrears to the 4th of March, 1819, 10 mos. 14/30 4/31 83.76 Semi anl. all'ce ending 4 Sep 1819 48.00 ______ $131.76 {Revolutionary claim, Act 18th, March, 1818} page 2 District of Vermont, Franklin County, ss.: On this 17th April AD 1818 before me the subscriber Chief Judge of the County Court for the County of Franklin in said District personally appeared Ebenezer Stebbins aged 67 years resident in Sheldon in said District who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision made by the late act of Congress entitled "an Act to provide for certain pensions engaged in the land & naval services of the United States in the revolutionary war" That __ the said Ebenezer Stebbins enlisted in Tolland in the State of Connecticut as a soldier for three years on the 6th of February 1777 in the company commanded by Capt'n Ichabod Hinkley of the Connecticut line in the Regiment then commanded by Colo Webb that he continued to serve in the said corps or in the service of the United States until 8th February 1780 when he was discharged from service at ____________ ______________ in State of New York That he was in the battle of Monmouth & Germantown and that he is in reduced circumstances and _____ in need of the assistance of his country for support and that he has no other evidence now in his power of his said services. State of Vermont Franklin County, ss.: Supreme Court, July ____ Term 1820 On this 13th day of July 1820 personally appeared in open Court, being the Supreme Court, for the County of Franklin and a Court of Record for said County, having the Power of fine and imprisonment Ebenezer Stebbins aged 69 years, resident in Sheldon, in said County, who being duly sworn, according to law, doth on his oath, declare that he served in the revolutionary war, as follows:- Engaged in Capt. Ichabod Hinkley's Camp, Charles Webb's Reg't, Connecticut line on the 8th day of February, 1777, and served three years _____ until February 1780 when I was discharged my first declaration is dated April 17th, 1818 and the number of my Pension Certificate is 7229. And I do solemnly swear, that I was a resident citizen of the United States, on the 18th day of March, 1818; and that I have no, since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner, disposed of my property, nor ay [sic] part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it, as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congres, entitled "An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States, in the Revolutionary war," paffed on the 18th day of March, 1818; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me any property or securities, contracts, or debts, due to me: nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and by me subscribed. I have no family but my wife Lois aged 65 years who has been Insane for about twenty years and very troublesome to take care of. Sheldon 736 Eaast 26" Erie, Pennsylvania BA-J/ady Ebenezer Stebbins S.41203 Dear Madam: Reference is made to your letter requesting the Revolutionary War records of Ebenezer Stebbins, S. 41203, and Hugh Thompson, S.23021. This office has no further information in regard to Hugh Thompson, S.23021, than that which was furnished you December 16, 1935. The data contained herein were obtained from the papers on file in the Revolutionary War pension claim, S.41203, based upon the military service in that war of Ebenezer Stebbins. The data and place of birth and the names of the parents of Ebenzer Stebbins are not shown. While a resident of Tolland, Connecticut, Ebenezer Stebbins enlisted February 8, 1777, served as private in Captain Ichabod Hinckley's Company, Colonel Charles Webb's Connecticut Regiment; was in the battle of Germantown and Monmouth, and was discharged February 8, 1780. He was allowed pension on his application executed April 17, 1818, at which time he was aged sixty-seven years and a resident of Sheldon, Franklin County, Vermont. Soldier had children living in 1818, their names, ages or residences are not given. In 1820, soldier's wife, Lois, was aged sixty-five years. There are no further family data. In order to obtain the date of last payment of pension, the name of person paid and possibly the death date of soldier, you should apply to the Comptroller General, General Accounting Office, Records Division, Washington, D.C., and cite the following data: "Ebenezer Stebbins, Certificate No. 7229, issued March 5, 1819, rate $8.00 per month, commenced April 17, 1818, Act of March 18, 1818, Vermont Agency."
