Daily Herald--Wed. March 10, 1909 MORRISVILLE, VT. March 9--Fire early today gutted the Lamoille house, in village of Morrisville, The blaze had gained such headway when discovered that it was impossible to check it. The residence of J. M. Kelley, office of the Morrisville Messenger, and A. L. Champeau's harness shop, nearby, were saved after a hard fight. The Lamoille house was one of the landmark of this town and had been owned for several years by E. G. Foss. It had been occupied until about two years ago by the Ottawa Feather Cleaning company. Repairs were begun on the interior yesterday, and there was a fire in a stove at the rear of the building on the first floor. It is thought the blaze caught from the stove. The building was insured for $4000, and the loss is variously estimated at from $2000 to $4000. Transcribed by, Joan H.
