Death and Funeral of Mrs. Ethel Davis Flanders of North Hyde Park
The entire community of North Hyde Park was saddened to learn of the death on 
Wednesday, July 20, at the Mary Fletcher hospital of Mrs. Robert Flanders.  
Mrs. Flanders had been ill only a few days and was taken to the hospital Sunday 
night, July 17, and was operated on that night.  Her death came as a great 
shock.  Ethel Grace Davis was born in Johnson, July 5, 1890, the second 
daughter of Charles and Nellie Tillotson Davis.  May 6, 1909, she was married 
to Robert J. Flanders of Cambridge.  To this union five children were born, 
Vera, Frances, Donald, Pearl and Robert, Jr., one and one-half years of age, 
who, with her husband, survive her.  She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. 
Ernest Mudgett, of North Hyde Park, and by one brother, Howard Davis, of 
Johnson.  Mrs. Flanders was a loving mother, a kind neighbor and a good friend, 
and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Mrs. Flanders was an active 
member of the Advent Church.  The funeral was held Friday, July 22, with a 
prayer at the house at 1:30, followed by the service at the Advent Church at 
2:30 p.m.  The Rev. V.A. Ober, her pastor, officiated.  Burial was in Lamoille 
View cemetery in Johnson.  The bearers were Hermon Tillotson, George Towle, 
Ernest Mudgett and Howard Davis.  The floral tribute was large and beautiful, 
from the family, the church, the Grange and friends.  The community extends 
sympathy to the relatives, especially the children, who are left without a 
mother.
