Free Baptist Cyclopaedia Co. 1889, page 554 Rackley, Rev. Joseph, was born Nov. 3, 1806, at Vershire, (Orange Co.) Vt., where his parents, Pelatiah and Sarah (Avers) Rackley, resided. Ile was led to Christ in Oct, 1820, was married to Polly R. Howe Dec. 18, 1828, and after her death to Elizabeth Innis. He served for a time as captain in the Vermont militia. He received license to preach in 1838, and Oct. 23, 1840, was ordained by Rev. N. Brown and others, being con- nected with the Genesee Q. M., New York. His active ministry, which was cornpar- atively successful, was spent with the churches of that Q. M. He has resided for a time in Illinois, and later at Hillsdale, Mich., wbere he died July 2, 1889. His four children have been teachers, occupying good positions, in society.
