In the same winter or spring, James Rines and a Mr. Bartlett moved into Troy, settled south of North Troy on the meadow below Big Falls. * 1801 Town incorporated into a Township named Missisquoi. * 1801 Curtis Elkins first Town Clerk. Alpheus Moore first representative to Legislature. * 1802 Town of Troy organized, name Missisquoi. * 1803 Name changed to Troy. * 1807 town had 30 taxpayers. * 1812 A Fort built during war of 1812.
