POULTNEY, VT. Edward Butler and son, E. Butler, have returned from a visit in Manchester. Miss Anna Dailey of East Poultney has taken a position as teacher at Hortonville. Rev. William Plamondon, who has been a guest this week of Rev. Kelley, returned Wednesday to his home in Winooski. Miss Anna Hanley, who has been spending the summer with relatives in West Rutland, has returned to her home here. A. Engrem of Rutland was a guest Wednesday of F. W. Barrett. Edward Brown of Castleton has moved into the Butler Tenement on North street. Miss Helen Bell went this week to Rutland where she will attend the Rutland Business college. J. B. Carrigan spent Wednesday in Rutland. Miss Margaret Hughes, who has been spending several days at her home here, has returned to New York where she has a position. Mrs. John Cassidy has returned to Salem, N.Y., after passing a few days at the home of her brother, Thomas Hood . J. Kendall spent Wednesday in Albany, N.Y. Miss Margaret Scott of Glens Falls, N.Y., is a guest at Troy Conference academy. Rev. J. Alex Donald, pastor of the local Baptist church, officiated at the funeral of Alice C. Ellis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ellis, at Castleton on Tuesday afternoon. Those from here who attended the funeral were R. E. Seward, Mr. and Mrs. William Lamb and daughter, Miss Agnes Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Newman, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Williams, Mrs. E. D. Ellis and son, Rodney Ellis, Mrs. Edward Ells, mother of the little girl, was formerly Miss Wilma Lamb of Poultney. The Public Safety committee of Poultney requests every family to fly the American flag today, registration day. Miss Flora Humphrey has position as operator in the local telephone office. Misses Nellie Conway and Mayme Lonergan, who have been spending the summer months at Lake Dunmore, returned home this week . Homer Leggett has bought the H.M. Matot & Sons' grocery store and meat market and has already taken possession. The new store will be known as the Poultney Cash Market. C. Brown of Washington, D. C., is a guest of Harry Williams. Miss Winnifred Jones of Troy, N. Y., has taken rooms in the Rawson residence on Main street. Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Minogue of Fair Haven were guests Wednesday of her sister, Mrs. M. McCarty.
