Owen Owens
Accident in Poultney, Vt. 
A serious accident occurred in Evan D.  Jones' quarry,  situated in the Northwest
part of Poultney, [Vt.] one day last week. As Owen Owens was endeavoring to stop the
boom, it caught a hook in his mitten and drew him over the opening,  when the mitten
gave way and let him fall a distance of some thirty-five feet. DR.  WILLIAMS,  of
Fairhaven, [Vermont] was called immediately and an examination was made,  but no
bones were broken,  and he is now in a fair way to recover.  This is the second time
he has fallen into the same opening within a year,  the former time he was laid up a
number of months and will probably be this time.   Query - Would it not be a worthy
object for some benevolent society to fill that quarry partly full of straw or hay
so that in future he may have something besides rocks and stones to strike on?
