The deceased was a native of Rhode Island. At an early age his parents removed with him to Clarendon, Vt., where he was called into the service of his country. He came into the State in the year 1800 and settled in Monroe in this county in 1804; was the first justice ever elected in that town. He was an industrious, honest man, and has died highly respected by all who knew him. -- Cou.
