The services were largely attended and a large delegation from Waverly chapter, O. E. S., of which she was a member, was present. Rev. Walter Thorpe officiated. Mrs. D. A. Maxham of South Wallingford sang "Somewhere" and there was also a selection by the choir. There was a profusion of floral offerings including an emblem design from the O. E. S., chapter and carnations from Kearney Relief corps. The bearers were Barney W. Aldrich, John Ames, Charles Nichols, Myron H. Roberts, Wallace W. Nichols and Dr. John I. Cochrane. The burial was by the side of her husband in the Scottsville cemetery. Nellie Sargents was born September 27, 1855 in Danby, the youngest of four daughters of Hezekiah and Abigail Crampton Sargent. In 1884 she was married to Richard Roberts, who died in September 1908. About 8 years ago they removed from Purchase, N. Y., to South Wallingford, where Mrs. Roberts resided until last fall when she came to reside with her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth J. Winn. A little over two years ago Mrs. Roberts underwent a severe surgical operation at a Troy, N. Y., hospital. Within the past few months she has suffered from a cancerous trouble. She was a member amd an active worked of the Union church at South Wallingford. Besides Mrs. Winn, she is survived by two other sisters, Mrs. Charles Nichols and Mrs. John M. Aldrich of South Wallingford. Examinations for applicants for teachers' certificates for the towns included in the Wallingford union supervisory district and the towns of Danby, Dorset, Manchester, Mt. Tabor and Sunderland will be given in the schoolhouse at Wallingford Thursday and Friday mornings at 9 o'clock. The examinations for free tuition in high schools will be held at the same time and place.
